The goal isn’t a brutal month that leaves you sore and sick of it; it’s a way of training and eating you can still be doing in ten years. When you zoom out to the decade, the daily decisions get easier: you stop chasing the extreme and start protecting the sustainable.

You’re not trying to win this week. You’re trying to still be doing this in ten years.

Lower the bar so you clear it

Ambitious people set ambitious targets and then feel like failures when life gets in the way. Flip it. Set a floor so low you can hit it on your worst day: two sessions a week, protein at every meal, a fixed wake-up time. Clearing a low bar consistently builds the identity of someone who follows through. Missing a high bar builds the opposite.

Detach from motivation

Waiting to feel motivated is a losing strategy, because motivation is a feeling and feelings come and go. The consistent ones don’t rely on it. Treat it like the investment it is

You already understand that the best returns come from steady, boring, compounding contributions, not from a single big bet. Your health works exactly the same way. Every session, every good meal, every decent night of sleep is a small deposit. None of them feel dramatic. Together, over years, they decide how strong and capable you are at sixty. That’s the mindset that keeps high performers consistent: quiet, patient, and relentless.
